Re-discover the pleasure of using soap bars
Origin History
The
earliest recorded evidence of the production of soap-like materials dates back
to around 2800 BC in Ancient Babylon. In the reign of Nabonidus (556– 539 BCE)
a recipe for soap consisted of uhulu [ashes], cypress [oil] and sesame [seed
oil] "for washing the stones for the servant girls". A formula for
soap consisting of water, alkali, and cassia oil was written on a Babylonian
clay tablet around 2200 BC.
Olive
oil has been used for generations throughout the mediterranean not only for its
healing qualities but also the benefits of olive oil on the skin, body and
hair. The ancient Roman and Egyptians used olive oil infused with fragrant
herbs and flowers to moisturise and perfume their skin. An ancient
Ayurvedic technique used a mixture of olive oil and water to maintain hydration
and beautiful skin. Italian women have lovingly massaged their newborn
babies with olive oil to protect their skin and prevent dryness and rashes.
The chemical makeup of olive oil is
similar to the natural oils produced by human skin, giving it a unique
synergy with human skin. Olive oil is pure and safe for
sensitive skin. Using high quality oils such as cold pressed extra virgin
olive oil will soften and soothe the skin and enable it to balance the
loss of moisture, enriching the body with antioxidants and natural
vitamins, and finally adding vitality to the skin. Olive oil has the exceptional
ability to lock moisture into the skin, thus encouraging firmer and
healthier skin.
Olive
oil is probably Greece’s best agricultural product, and it is a great basis for
making natural soaps. Traditionally Greece has been a producer of olive oil
soaps. We thought we’d continue this tradition in a modern way.
Notes/ Production Method
Cool
Soaps are produced with the cold process method. This means that the oils reach
a maximum temperature of 45-50° Celsius, thus retaining all their benefits.
Also, it ensures that soaps retain their own glycerin, a natural result of the
saponification and a great moisturizer.
The
soaps are then left to cure for a period of 6-8 weeks. During this period they
are checked for Ph level. They are then individually checked, placed in their
box, which is then sealed. Only then are Cool Soaps ready for use.
Cool
Soaps are always delivered fresh. They are not perfect in shape, they do not
all look the same, and their colour varies from batch to batch… but they feel
great on the skin.
A
real, natural, handmade product!
Cool
Soaps are made with pure olive oil, as well as with other natural, plant oils.
They are handmade in small batches. Because all ingredients are natural, you
will inevitably see differences from soap to soap. So don’t expect to find the
perfect, flawless soap when opening your Cool Soap box!
1.
They are not all the same exact shape.
2.
They are not the same, exact colour. Olive oil changes from batch to batch,
sometimes it will make for a whiter soap, other times for a yellower or
slightly greener soap. The other oils may also affect the colour of the soap.
3.
Temperature and humidity in the environment affect the time needed for the soap
to dry as well as the final result. This may show in slight variation in colour
tonality.
4.
You might find that some of your soaps are covered with a white dust, as if it
were covered in snow! This is a typical reaction of the olive oil soap
(particularly when it has a high percentage of olive oil) when it sits to dry,
usually when it has had a quick drop of temperature.
5.
Essential oils might also colour the soaps slightly.
6.
Soaps may be a little sweaty or have droplets on them. This might feel strange,
but it is only an indication that soaps have a good level of glycerin, which
attracts water. This is even more evident when the weather is very humid.
7.
Other soaps might have whitish speckles on them, or show various tones of light
beige. This can happen when the temperature is not even all around at some
stage of the soap production. It is nothing to worry about and does not take
away from the quality of the soaps.
Lastly,
don’t forget to tell your clients to use a soap dish so that the soap dries
properly. Natural soaps need to dry well between each use, otherwise they go
soft and don’t last as long.
All
these imperfections are proof that Cool Soaps are natural and of high quality.
We hope you and your clients will enjoy them.
